Advocate and Partner at R& PARTNERS LAW FIRM. He holds an LLM from the
University of Pretoria/ South Africa, LLB (Hons) from the National University of
Rwanda (NUR), Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Practice of the Institute of Legal
Practice & Development (ILPD), and a Certificate of the Chartered Institute of
Arbitrators (CIArb). Trainer of trainers, he holds a vast range of Certificates in
different filed of Law, obtained from, inter alia, Turin, Geneva, Western Cape,
Pretoria and Kigali.
He has a two-decade professional experience in Law. He has been Lecturer at
the Faculty of Law of the National University of Rwanda before serving as High
Court Judge and Advocate. He has a particular interest in Judicial Law,
Alternative Dispute Resolution, Business Law, International Law, Human Rights
Law, International Criminal Law, Constitutional Law, and Administrative Law.
For ten (10) years, he was the Government’s Senior Litigant and Advisor, as
Principal and Senior State Attorney, in the Office of the Attorney General,
handling in Rwanda and abroad complex and diverse matters including contracts
negotiations, the government’s litigation and advisory. He was in recent years,
particularly dedicated to handling cases before the African Court on Human and
Peoples’ Rights.
Member of the Rwanda Bar Association and the East African Law Society (EALS),
he is RwandAir Board Member and was a Moot Court competition Judge in
Abidjan, Dar es Salam and Kigali. He also served as Member of the Supreme
Court’s Multi-Institutional Committee on Rwanda Law Report and Member of the
Rwanda Bar Association Disciplinary Committee. He is a national and
international Conference Speaker and Students’ academic dissertation
supervisor.
With his vast research experience, familiarity with both Civil and Common Law
systems, he wrote numerous Court Judgments, Memos, Legal Opinions and Court
Briefs. Apart from Kinyarwanda, the mother tongue, he has an excellent
command of English, French, and Swahili.
